Coat Gauge
Confirming to accuracy as recommended in
● SSPC-PA 2-73T,
● ISO 2178-1982 (E),
● ASTM B 499-87 and ASTM D 1186-87.
Measures the thickness of Non-magnetic coating on magnetic base.
The coating may be of materials like:
● as Plating : Gold, Copper, Zinc, Tin, Chromium, Hard Chromium, Lead etc.
● as Coating: Paint, Resineous coating.
● as Lining: Resin, Rubber, Fibre Glass.
● as Film: Plastic, Copper foils.
● Parkerising
● Metalising
● Insulation coating.
The magnetic base may be of materials like
● Iron
● Nickel
● Cobalt
● Magnetic Stainless Steel etc.

Zero Base
Zero Base along with a set of foils are able to check a coating thickness gauge’s functionality and calibration. In some cases, it may be difficult or impractical to obtain an uncoated surface. For this reason Electromech Instruments provides a wide range of Zero Test Plates.
Calibration Foils
Calibration of foils is the ideal method for adjusting calibration of the coating thickness gauge to achieve accuracy. Also foils are the most convenient way of creating a coating thickness standard on the substrate material, surface finish or form.
Key Parameters
Every foil has mentioned value in Microns.
Foils have ±2% accuracy.
Foils below 50µm have an accuracy of ±2µm.
